Ding ding ding!!! Thurman hit it on the head.

I wasn't implying that you were swayed on this lefty, but there are a lot of people that do seem to sway b/c of the positive pub CB gets.

Right on thurman! I like all three courses that you mention although I agree that there's not a lot to separate them aside from the fact that Hurdzan designed one and the other two are by lesser known names in the industry (or at least by the general public). My contention is, however, that the best holes at Cherry Blossom are better than the best holes at either of the other two. All 3 are solid if unspectacular golf courses that are generally well maintained, reasonably priced and get lots of play.

Actually, after playing CB again today for the first time in 2 years I have to say that I think it's significantly better design wise than Houston Oaks and I think better than Gibson Bay too. The "boring" holes are better than the similar holes at the other two as well. I like how several of the fairways are framed with lone trees to draw your eye in to the targets. Just a pretty good course. Very enjoyable place to play a round.

2,3,5,4,4,3,3,3 - 27

Nicely conditioned course, but there are too many houses. The design is just OK and the course does not feel "special" to me, not really memorable.

Aesthetics – 3. Houses take away a little but not a whole lot. 17 and 18 are 2 of the most scenic holes around.
Ambience – 4. I love the atmosphere at this course.
Conditioning – 5. No question on this one.
Use of property – 4.
Risk/reward – 4. Several of the doglegs here are risk/reward, trying to figure out how much of the dogleg/water to bite off.
Test of the full game – 5. In my opinion, you have a ton of different shots required to play this course.
Design variation – 3.
Memorability – 4

Total - 31

This is insane. Course is in great shape but pretty boring design. I was never impressed with it but went back this year because of all the good press this place gets. I was still not impressed. Last three holes are very good. Other than that it is short and plain. They host a hooters event. Big deal. Seneca used to host one too. I played it a few years ago right before the tournament. They have to grow the rough up to five inches just to make the course a challenge at all. I think this course is run very well and has been in great condition but design is nothing to write home about. If you love this so much Rocket, then you have to try Chariot Run. It is kept in even better shape and has a better design. Ambiance 5? Use of property 5? Risk/Reward 5? Test 5? Variation 5? What a joke. This is Adub's alias.

Whoa now, what the hell? Why would I do that for Cherry Blossom? Yeah, I think a lot of you guys give it a harder time than it deserves, but its probably going to fall in the top 18 or close anyway with or without rocket. That's bullshit Jason and you know it. You know I've got more sense than that.

Good course conditions. Well worth it if you can find a good coupon.
